New Course on Biblical Eldership by the Institute for Church Leadership

February 28, 2018

Biblically, the focal point of all church leadership is the elder. An elder is one of a plurality of biblically qualified men who jointly shepherd and oversee a local body of believers. The word translated “elder” is used nearly twenty times in Acts and the epistles in reference to this unique group of leaders who have responsibility for overseeing the people of God.

In this new course, the elders of Grace Community Church (GCC) teach on a biblical view of eldership. Some of the topics that are covered in this 11-week course are philosophy of ministry, the reason for male eldership, qualifications for elders and deacons, church discipline, discipleship, and unity.

Each lesson in this special course is taught by a different GCC elder in a video lecture format. The ICL curriculum also has quizzes, supplemental reading, and group discussions. It is a great teaching tool for pastors to use with their leadership teams or for individuals who want an in-depth look at what biblical eldership looks like.
