Our beloved Professor Emeritus, Dr. Robert L. Thomas went to be with the Lord this morning, Wednesday, September 6, 2017. A founding member of The Master’s Seminary, his legacy permeates the lives of the numerous men he influenced. President John MacArthur responded to Dr. Thomas’s passing with the following statement:

I just received word that my dear friend Dr. Bob Thomas entered glory today. I rejoice in his homegoing and the reality that his life left an indelible mark on me personally and thousands of other young men in ministry.

As my Greek professor all through seminary, he laid the foundation for my life of preaching the New Testament. Whatever impact my preaching and writing on the New Testament may have is a direct result of his skill and passion for precision in handling the Word of God.

His legacy is incalculable. I also have great affection for him as a man. He was one of the first professors that I invited to be a part of the faculty at the beginning of The Master’s Seminary. He played a significant role in shaping what the seminary has become. He is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

— Dr. John MacArthur, President

Echoing Dr. MacArthur’s words, the faculty, students, and staff rejoice in Dr. Thomas’s homegoing and will likewise miss his presence at the seminary.
