About SemWives
The Seminary Wives' Discipleship program is an association of the wives of students, along with the TMS/TMC faculty wives and the Grace Community Church pastors' or elders' wives who lead the small group sessions. The purpose of the organization is to:
- Enrich each wife's devotion to God - Romans 12:1-2; Romans 6:17-18; 1 Peter 1:15-16; Proverbs 3:5-6
- Enrich her marriage and family through study of the Word and profitable literature - Titus 2:3-5; 1 Peter 3:1-6
- Enrich her personal development through small group discipleship, accountability, and support - Colossians 3:16; Romans 14:19; 1 Corinthians 16:15-16; 2 Peter 3:18
- Equip her for future ministry alongside her husband by providing materials, resources, and practical training in women's ministry - Ephesians 4:1-3; Titus 2:4-5
Meetings are held each Wednesday for ten weeks during a semester. In typical meetings time is devoted to each of the following:
- Encouragement and motivation through a period of worship and devotion - Psalm 19:14; Colossians 1:9-11; Colossians 3:16
- Instruction with regard to a particular skill - 1 Peter 4:10-11; Colossians 3:17
- Participation in a study of God's Word or in discussion of a book relating to a topic of practical value for wives - 1 Peter 3:1-6; 2 Timothy 2:15; 1 Timothy 2:9-10, 3:11
- Mutual support in a period of prayer for one another; additional special activities are occasionally sponsored by the group - Colossians 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; Philippians 2:1-4
