FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS


The Master’s Seminary maintains one of the very lowest seminary tuition costs in the country. And, it is committed to keeping it that way. Tuition at TMS represents only 60% of actual costs, meaning that the other 40% must be provided through the sacrificial gifts of friends of TMS. In other words, think of it as a 40% scholarship automatically built into your tuition cost.

Even though our tuition is low, we recognize that some students will still need additional assistance. Knowing that reality, we encourage all students (incoming and returning) to discuss their tuition needs with their home church (cf. Matching Funds Scholarship below). Beyond that, we advise you to make every effort to arrive on campus with a plan to meet your tuition obligations for the first year, thereby leaving the limited seminary scholarships (except for the Matching Funds Scholarship) to assist the needs of second and third year students.

TMS is registered with the government as a two-semester institution. As a result, federal law does not permit the seminary to grant scholarships for Winterim or Summer School sessions. Consequently, scholarship applications are accepted only for the fall and spring semesters.

The TMS Scholarship Committee reviews all applications in accordance with the following expectations:

  1. Applicants are enrolled full-time (11.5 credit hours minimum) with a 2.5 GPA or higher
  2. Applicants are employed
  3. Applicants have sought assistance from their home church prior to making application
  4. Applicants demonstrate godly character, academic capability, and ministry potential
  5. Applicants have an ongoing ministry involvement

Academic Scholarships
Professor's Scholarship    ($1200)
A student, selected annually by his peers and affirmed by the faculty, is chosen for this scholarship based on his servant-leadership to the student body.

Academic Scholarships    (Amount varies)
A limited number of students who have demonstrated a high level of scholarship may be considered for Teaching Assistantships while pursuing post-graduate studies at the seminary. Post-graduate students who desire consideration for such appointments should speak in person to the Executive Vice President & Dean or the Vice President for Academic Administration.

Requirements:  Application for this position is made in person to the Dean or the Vice President for Academic Administration.


Need-based Grants
Tuition Assistance Fund    (Amount varies)
Assistance with tuition, excluding student fees, is dependent on available funds and is awarded to full-time students (see stipulations above) based on need. Approval and amount awarded is determined by the Scholarship Committee.

Timothy Fund    (Amount varies)
Student and family assistance is available on a needs basis. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information.

Gates Family Scholarship    (Amount varies)
A limited number of scholarships are available for students pursuing the Doctor of Theology degree. Based on need, this scholarship is designed for doctoral candidates in residence.

Christian Worker’s Scholarship Fund    (Up to $3500)
Granted annually to three students who demonstrate financial need, spiritual maturity in character, and who maintain an active involvement in local church ministry. Because of the time required to assess an applicant’s qualifications, this scholarship is limited to students who have completed one full year of M.Div. studies at TMS.

Requirements:  An annual written review and pastoral recommendation.


Martin Family Foundation    (Amount varies)
Awarded semi-annually to students who demonstrate financial need, spiritual maturity in character, and an active involvement in a local church ministry. This scholarship is generally limited to students who have completed one full year of M.Div. studies at TMS.

Matching and Outside Aid
Matching Funds Scholarship    (Up to $400)
Assistance from your home church does more than help meet the budget—it provide an accountability for the student and a prayer commitment by the church. Consequently, students enrolling in the seminary are encouraged to discuss financial assistance with their pastor and church leadership. Then, as the Lord provides, TMS will match one dollar for every three dollars given by your church, up to a total $400 each semester. Church donations must be received no later than August 1 for the fall semester and December 1 for the spring semester.

Requirements:  Commitment and funds from home church.


Shepherds for the Savior    (Amount varies)
A limited number of scholarships are available for those studying to become pastors or missionaries.

Veteran Educational Assistance    (Amount varies)
TMS has been approved for the training of veterans and eligible persons under the provision of Title 38, United States Code.

Requirements:  Contact the TMC Financial Aid Office for more information or to apply. An original or certified copy of release papers is required.


TMC Alumni Scholarships and Grants
John R. Dunkin Memorial Scholarship    (Up to $8000)
Awarded annually to a Bible major senior at The Master’s College. Consideration is automatically given to all Bible majors who have been accepted into the seminary. Selection is made by the TMC Bible department faculty.

Wayne Mack Scholarship    (Up to $4000)
Granted to a graduate of the Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling program at The Master’s College. Consideration is automatically given to all MABC majors who have been accepted into the seminary. Selection is made by the MABC department faculty at TMC.

Charles R. Smith Memorial Scholarship    (Up to $500)
Awarded in honor of Dr. Charles R. Smith, the seminary’s first dean, this scholarship is granted to all first semester students who have completed their undergraduate degree the previous semester at The Master’s College.
